Charles Harris
Charles Harris is a 10-year veteran of the video game and animation industries, having worked in multiple disciplines as an engineer, producer, and production manager. Currently, Charles serves as a Pipeline Engineer for Epic Games, where he works on Fortnite and develops tools that empower creators of all sizes using Unreal Engine.
Charles began his career in the video game industry at 2K Games’ motion capture studio, serving as the engineer and architect of the production pipeline at one of the world’s busiest facilities. During his time there, he contributed to many of the publisher’s major series, including Mafia, XCOM, Civilization, Borderlands, and, of course, NBA and WWE 2K. In his roles as an engineer and later in management, he was responsible for staying at the cutting edge of performance capture technology—from the latest cinematic and motion capture systems to emerging fields such as photogrammetry, volumetric capture, and digital doubles.
Embracing these emerging technologies, Charles transitioned to his first position at Epic Games as a technical producer on Unreal Engine’s virtual production team. There, he helped the development team release Unreal Engine 5.0 and launch a new suite of virtual production tools that empower a diverse range of creators—from major production companies working on blockbuster films to small streamers and indie filmmakers—allowing them to harness the full power of the engine for their projects.
When he’s not working on set, Charles enjoys a variety of hobbies, including anime, video games, movies, and tabletop role-playing games. He also hosts the one of the longest-running Final Fantasy XIV podcasts, Aetheryte Radio, and contributes as a writer and reviewer for GamerEscape. Additionally, he and a group of friends stream TTRPG content on Twitch via their channel +1Shot.
